Personal life   Eric Salter Balfour was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Sharon Salter, who works as a marriage and family counselor, and David Balfour, a chiropractor. They divorced later. He has a younger sister Tori .   He is of Russian, French, and Native-American descent.   He attended high school in Burbank, California.   On his 28th. birthday on April 24, 2005, Balfour got engaged to actress Moon Bloodgood, but they splitt up early 2007. Eric is now dating actress Leonor Varella.   When Eric was 15 years old he was in a band called “Blessed With Soul” with actress Brittany Murphy. One day when they were practicing in a studio in L.A. an executive from the show “Kids Incorporated“ passed by and asked him to audition. Befor that Eric never thought of being an actor. He always wanted to be a singer. Eric and the rest of the cast of “Kid’s Inc.“ earned a “Young Artist Award” nomination in 1993 and won the “Young Artist Award for Outstanding Youth Ensemble in a Cable of Primetime Series“ in 1994.   Balfour made his feature debut in the 1996 film “Shattered Image”.   His breakthrough role was “Six Feet Under” in 2001 as Gabe Dimas.   In addition to his film career Eric is also the lead singer of the band “Born as Ghosts“, formerly known as “Fredalba.“ Trivia   * He resides in Los Angeles, California. * Eric is 6'2". * Eric is an avid surfer and snowboarder. * Eric is an avid poker player. * Eric and his family used to hold Lakota Indian sweat lodges in their backyard. * When he was younger, Eric and his family spent a lot of time at Esalin, which he describes    as "a hippy commune." * When Eric was 15 he dated his ex-babysitter who was 23 years old at that time. * When he was younger, Eric was allergic to cats and dogs.
